Overview
Massachusetts’ largest investor-owned electric and gas utility, recently
undertook a pilot initiative using our Secure PUSH eMail Billing Solution to
deliver its electric bills to residential customers via secure email, and to
introduce a revolutionary new ability to take check payments directly from
within the email bill.
The Challenges
- To truncate all paper for pilot group
- To test and prove that required formats can be delivered - HTML (successful)
- To measure the speed of delivery and payment
- To fully close the in-email payment process, and test customer acceptance / usage of this payment option
- To survey select pilot customers responses
Results:
- Over 27% of pilot customers responded to the survey in the first 2 weeks
- Over 91% of pilot customers turned paper billing off, less than 9% unsubscribe rate
- 98% email deliverability (paper bills were automatically generated for email failures)
- 75% rated the Email Bill EXCELLENT or GOOD
- 78% said that the Email Bill was EASY TO PAY
- 94% requested Email Billing on a PERMANENT BASIS
Payment Results:
- 19% of recipients paid their bill on the SAME DAY they received it
- 68% paid in less than 10 days
- The clients 'days sales outstanding' on this consumer group, was over 18 days quicker than their norm, which has a massive impact on cash flow
